Mr. Instructor is the codename for a prototype application that we designed to use augmented reality to help train first responders for the Canadian military.
We built off the progress and rigged together hardware from a previous year.
The goal of the project was to show how game design can be used for more than just games. How it can be used to educate and pass on useful skills, and how we can use rapidly progressing technology to our advantage.
Using a battery powered HP Backpack Computer, Oculus headset, ZED Mini camera, and Leap Motion hand sensor, we allow students to practice procedures directly with their hands, using a digital world and HUD layered over the real world.
Over the course of the project, we did extensive research into educational applications of game theory and design.
